A long road to recovery: 10th Mountain Soldier returns to duty nearly a year after catastrophic car accident

FORT DRUM, New York — Perseverance is defined as the ability to keep doing something despite obstacles or delay in achieving success. A real-world example is that of 1st Lt. Thomas Vincent, who spent nearly an entire year recovering after a severe car accident in November 2019 left him with multiple injuries.

Fort Drum Veterinary Treatment Facility hosts drive-up vaccine clinic

FORT DRUM, NEW YORK — The Fort Drum Veterinary Treatment Facility hosted a drive-up vaccine clinic at their facility on Fort Drum, New York, Dec. 28. The day-long event provided much-needed inoculations and wellness exams while minimizing person-to-person contact. Additionally, no appointments were necessary, allowing the clinic to care for more pets than on a typical day.

Fort Drum Medical Activity Soldiers train as Sexual Assault Forensic Assistants

FORT DRUM, NEW YORK — Staff Sgt. Dennis Manuel, Spc. Marissa Kirian, and Spc. Kelly Pham recently completed the SAMFE assist training under the guidance of Fort Drum’s Sexual Assault Medical Management Office program manager. Under the new Fort Drum pilot program, the volunteer Soldiers are now ready to provide on-call, rapid support to primary SAMFE providers in assisting with medical exams, collecting forensic evidence, and supporting victims during sexual assault forensic exams.

Fort Drum physical therapy staff enhances skills with McKenzie Method

FORT DRUM, NEW YORK — Fort Drum’s physical therapy staff participated in a McKenzie Method training course focusing on medical assessment and lower back pain treatment at the Guthrie Army Health Clinic.

On the frontlines of a pandemic: Fort Drum’s all-volunteer healthcare team at the center of the fight against COVID-19

FORT DRUM, New York — Heading up the COVID-19 fight are the all-volunteer medical professionals of the Bowe Army Medical Home on Fort Drum. There, doctors, nurses and other MEDDAC healthcare professionals focus their attention full-time to the care and treatment of Soldiers, Family members and retirees who have tested positive for the virus.

Fort Drum’s Warrior Transition Unit re-designates, reflags as Soldier Recovery Unit

FORT DRUM, New York — Soldiers, staff, Family and friends of the 3rd Battalion, 85th Mountain Infantry Regiment Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) gathered to honor the legacy of the battalion and celebrate its new chapter as it was re-designated the Fort Drum Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) during a ceremony on Fort Drum, New York June 16, 2020.
